Farmers' Markets

Farmer’s markets produce is renowned for being locally grown, seasonal and very fresh. Farmers pick produce at the peak of flavour, preserving the nutritional content of fresh produce and since locally grown produce does not have to travel far to your table, the vast difference in mileage saves fossil fuels. Farmers Markets often feature produce that is grown naturally, or organically, meats that are raised humanely on pasture, handmade farmstead cheeses, eggs and poultry from free range fowl, as well as heirloom produce and heritage breeds of meat and fowl.

The Buxton Farmers Market includes farmers, growers and producers from the High Peak and Derbyshire Dales attending the market in person to sell their produce direct to the public. Most of the produce on sale has been grown, reared, brewed, pickled, baked, smoked or processed by the stallholder, comforting in this age of fast foods. Most stallholders offer free tastings and all comply with hygiene and safety legislation.

There is a fantastic choice on offer which includes:

  • Fabulous range of home baked cakes, breads and desserts and handmade chocolates.
  • Home made lemon curd, jam, pickles and chutneys all made to the stallholders own special recipes.
