Second award in 3 Months for The Pavilion Gardens

March 6th, 2009

Three months after receiving the Restaurant of the Month Award, a member of the waiting team at The Pavilion Café Buxton has been awarded the High Peak - Peak District – Waitress of the Month, accolade for February 2009.

Voted for by readers of ‘Pubs ‘R’ Down To Us’ magazine, this award has been presented to Sarah Banks who has worked at Pavilion Gardens for 8 months. With 43 votes received in a 2-week period, this is clearly an impressive achievement when you consider the number of waiting staff employed in the Peak District.

Having opened on Wednesday 11th February, the new Pavilion Café Buxton has been a great hit with its diners. In particular, the new family friendly zone is extremely popular and many customers have told the team, “It is just what Buxton needs!”

Tony Kemp, Executive Councillor for Regeneration, comments: “The popularity of the vibrant new Pavilion Café offer has amazed and delighted everyone concerned. It seems to have become the “in” place to be in Buxton, with family-friendly facilities, yet a peaceful and calm atmosphere in which people can meet friends or business acquaintances for coffee, lunch or afternoon tea.”

“Our staff have responded with great enthusiasm to the changes and new challenges, as demonstrated by this much deserved award to Sarah Banks. I’d like to add my congratulations, not just to Sarah, but to all the team who have worked so hard with General Manager, Terry Crawford, to get the new Café up and running as such a wonderful asset to the town.”

The improvements to the Pavilion Gardens complex will continue into April. The impending opening of the new gift boutique, arts & crafts gallery and Tourist Information Centre, which is taking place on Monday 23 March, heralds the conclusion of the second phase of the works. Having relocated from the old Pump Room, High Peak Artists will be showcasing their work in the new gallery as part of this unique offer.

The third and final phase, the exciting new coffee bar, is scheduled to be completed in the week of 20th April.
