Regional Food Fair

Connoisseurs of quality food and drink will appreciate a tempting new treat – a regular highlight on the menu as part of the ever-expanding portfolio of specialist fairs at the Pavilion Gardens in Buxton. roast beef

Gourmet delights, ranging from chocolate to cheese and vegetables to venison, will tempt shoppers' taste buds at the Regional Food Fair on Saturday March 11, 2006, in the Octagon.

The free event – one of a series of six in the year – will build on the success of the Pavilion Gardens' increasingly popular Artists and Designers Fairs and Plant and Garden Fairs, held throughout the year.

Organisers aim to make premium, locally- and regionally-produced food currently on offer at midweek Farmers' Markets and the annual Great Peak District Fair – the area's premier platform for fine food, arts and crafts – available on an even more regular basis. roast beef

Some of the exhibitors at the Great Peak District Fair have taken the opportunity to attend the Regional Food Fair, which will enable visitors to buy fresh food and drink – including organic options – direct from the farmer or producer.

“These Regional Food Fairs will be a valuable addition to the busy calendar of events held all year round at the Pavilion Gardens,” said Councillor Alan Wells, High Peak Borough Council's Executive Member for Economic Regeneration.

“Like the other regular, specialist fairs, they are designed to bring more visitors and trade to the High Peak, giving a welcome and important boost to the local economy.

“I am sure they will also complement the existing Farmers Markets and Great Peak District Fair, by encouraging people to shop locally for fine food and drink and strengthening the growing links between producers and consumers.”

Further Regional Food Fairs – each open from 10am to 4pm – will be held on April 15, May 20, July 1, September 16 and December 16, 2006.
